Introduction to Ki Gong

Ki Gong is one of the most accessible and effective movement practices available — and one of the least understood in the West.

What Ki Gong is

At its core, Ki Gong is a system of gentle physical exercises, breathwork, and focused awareness designed to develop the mind, body, and spirit together. It draws on the same foundational principles as yoga, Tai Chi, and meditation — but integrates them into a single, cohesive practice that is easy to learn and adapt to any fitness level or age.

What the name means

The “Ki” in Ki Gong refers to the body’s vital energy or life force — known in Chinese medicine as “qi” or “chi.” “Gong” means mastery through practice. Together, Ki Gong is the practice of learning to work with your own internal energy, rather than against it.

What regular practice does

Through regular practice, Ki Gong supports smooth circulation, easier breathing, reduced tension, and a calmer, more focused mind. Many people report feeling more at ease in their body and more resilient to the stresses of daily life — without intense effort or equipment.

Who it is for

This is a practice you can do anywhere, at any age, at any stage of recovery. It meets you exactly where you are.

Dr. Tim Schroeder is one of only a handful of instructors worldwide certified at Level VI by the World Ki Gong organization, and has presented on Ki Gong practice domestically and internationally.
